Ruiyao Luo is an independent researcher and writer from China. She writes on gender, labour, urbanisation and migration among other social topics in Asia. Her work is published in mainstream Chinese and English media including Phoenix Weekly（凤凰周刊), Initium Media（端传媒), Tencent News (腾讯新闻), Caixin Media（财新网), The Paper（澎湃新闻）and South China Morning Post, Kr Asia, RADII China (English). Previously, Ruiyao worked for Caixin Media in Beijing, as well as travelled and reported from several other Asian countries. She has degrees in gender studies, law and journalism. She enjoys swimming, adores cats, and loves nature walks when the weather is pleasant. Tender coconut always makes her day better.
